The territory
Carpaneto Piacentino is the natural capital of the Val Chero, a valley in the Apennines of Piacenza, formed by the homonymous stream, which originates at about 900 m above sea level. We are located in the foothills, in the heart of the province of Piacenza; here the microclimate and the local culture provide the best basis for the productions of typical cured meats.
For the more passionate, on the first weekend of September, the town of Carpaneto hosts the popular Festa della Coppa, a celebration of food and wine culture dedicated to Coppa Piacentina. Finally, the area is part of the “Via Francigena” route, part of a bundle of routes, also known as the Via Romee, which from Western Europe, in particular from France, led to Southern Europe to Rome and then continued towards Puglia, where there were the ports of embarkation for the Holy Land, destination of pilgrims and crusaders. Three stages, about 80 km, take place in the Piacenza area, from the ford of the Po River to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine passes.
